LAANE Grants, Scholarships, Awards, and Recognition

LAANE Professional Development Grant
The purpose of the LAANE Professional Development Grant is to foster professional growth of our members and contribute to the field of developmental education and/or student support. The grant will be awarded to assist in research, leadership, curricular innovation, and educational advancement. The grant funds proposals up to $750.00. An individual may be awarded only one professional development grant every two calendar years. For more information on grant application and criteria, click here.
Student Scholarship – Please click here to apply
LAANE’s $500 Student Scholarship will be awarded to a student who, at the time of application:
Is enrolled in a bachelor or associate degree program
Has benefitted from receiving learning assistance through tutoring, coaching, ESOL programming, developmental education classes, or other support systems
Has earned at least 24 credits
Has a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00
Will be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits in Spring 2022
LAANE Awards
Outstanding Peer Tutor
This award recognizes an exemplary peer tutor. To nominate one of your tutors, please submit the following information here:

Specifics of the tutor’s position
Examples of how this person has made a difference/stood out
What the student is trying to achieve with their education
If possible, provide tutee feedback about this individual
Outstanding Academic Support Professional
This award recognizes an exemplary academic support professional. To nominate a colleague, please submit the following information here:

Specifics of the support professional’s position
Examples of how this person has made a difference/stood out
If possible, provide student feedback about this individual
Outstanding Learning Center/Student Support Team
This award honors a team exemplifying the best of current practice in the field of learning assistance/student support. To nominate a team, please submit the following information here:
Description of how the learning center/student support team functions within the college
Description of the program. This could include quantitative/qualitative data, highlights of unique features and components, and innovative/effective practices.
Impact the learning center/student support team has had on students. This could include feedback/testimonials from students, other administrators, or college members.
LAANE Recognition
Outstanding Contribution to LAANE
This award recognizes a significant contribution to the growth and development of the association through service as a committee member, chairperson, state chapter leader, or coordinator of a major LAANE activity.
Outstanding Research Publication Award
This award recognizes an individual who has authored a published article, book, periodical, or monograph in the field of learning assistance or developmental education. Dissertations are not considered for this award.
